1. What is SDS?
SDS is a streamlined study permit processing route for students from specific countries — Bangladesh is on the list. If you meet ALL the requirements, IRCC processes your application in approximately 20 calendar days instead of the 8–16 weeks Non-SDS takes.
📌 The "20 days" is from the date IRCC receives your complete application — not from the date you start preparing. Total preparation time is typically 4–8 weeks before you even submit.

- ✅ First-year tuition paid in full (receipt from university)

5. Top 5 SDS Mistakes from Bangladesh
- IELTS 6.0 overall but 5.5 in one band. SDS requires 6.0 in EACH band. An overall 6.5 with 5.5 writing = automatic Non-SDS processing.
- Forgetting the PAL. Since January 2024, most programmes need a Provincial Attestation Letter. Without it = automatic refusal.
- GIC amount wrong. It's CAD 20,635, not the old 10,000. Using the old figure = refusal.
- Medical not uploaded before submission. The panel physician must upload results to IRCC's system before you submit. If it's "pending" = processed as Non-SDS.
- Weak Statement of Purpose. Even with SDS, a vague or generic SOP can trigger a refusal on "purpose of visit" grounds.

Is 20 days guaranteed?
No — 20 calendar days is the target, not a guarantee. Most SDS applications from Bangladesh are processed within 15–25 days. Occasionally it takes longer during peak season (June–August).
Can I apply SDS with PTE instead of IELTS?
Yes — PTE Academic was added to SDS-accepted tests in August 2023. You need scores equivalent to IELTS 6.0 in each band (approximately PTE 60 in each communicative skill).
What if my IELTS is 5.5 in writing?
You don't qualify for SDS. Apply through Non-SDS (8–16 weeks) or retake IELTS to get 6.0 in every band. Many students find PTE easier for the writing component.
Do I get my GIC money back?
Yes — it's your money. The bank releases ~CAD 2,000 immediately on arrival and then ~CAD 1,700/month for the rest of the year.
Can I apply SDS for a college diploma?
Yes — SDS works for diplomas, degrees and Master's at any DLI. However, since November 2024, PGWP eligibility for college programmes depends on approved field-of-study lists. Confirm your programme qualifies before applying.
